JESUS COMMISSIONS HIS DISCIPLES
Mark 3:13:19; 6:7-13; 16:14-20
INTRODUCTION: Commission Certifies Rank and Authority. This is given to military officers when they have completed their training.
Jesus commissioned His Disciples – with rank and authority… “all power in heaven and earth is given to me and I give it to you”.
A. These would now continue His work.
B. Their 3- fold appointment was – to pr3each, heal and cast out demons.
C. Jesus’ selection of these men came after a season of prayer.
I THEY WERE EYEWITNESSES
A. They were eyewitnesses of His resurrection.
B. Jesus had made Himself real to them.
C. They were commissioned to testify of Him.
D. What is our testimony? What can we offer as a solid basic for our faith? WE ARE…
II. AMBASSADORS FOR CHRIST
A. Representatives with a Message!
1. Sent out (every person)
2. Given the ministry of reconciliation
3. Proclaiming the Good News!
B. Telling The Story of Salvation
1. Reconciling to God
2. Proclaiming Christ
3. Warning of Judgment
III. TEACHERS FOR DISCIPLES
A. Continuing The Work Begun By Jesus…
1. The revelation of the CHru8ch came to Paul after the ascension.
2. The Holy Spirit came to reveal all the TRUTH.
3. The Great Commission is to MAKE disciples.
4. WE must teach all things that pertain to life and godliness.
IV. FOUNDATION OF THE CHRUCH
A. The Church is built on Christ, the chief cornerstone.
B. The Apostles’ names are written on the foundation of the New Jerusalem, which is the Lamb’s Bride (the Church)
C. Our serving is the basic for – Hope! Faith! Doctrine!
CONCLUSION:
A. What we know about Jesus has been learned from His disciples. This principle still holds true today.
B. As Disciples of Christ, we have been given the honor of carrying on their great work.
C. We must steadfastly finish the work they gave their lives too.
D. We must respect the power and authority of our commission.
